Sydney Radigan, a graduate student from Calvin University, has been named a finalist in track & field for the DIII Honda Athlete of the Year, as announced today by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.
The announcement comes during a landmark moment for the organization, as the CWSA celebrates its 50th anniversary during the 2025–26 collegiate athletics season. Radigan is now among 11 elite finalists for this prestigious award, which recognizes the top NCAA Division III athletes across various sports. The DIII Honda Athlete of the Year will be selected by senior women administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools and will be honored during a live broadcast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, July 27th, at 7:00 pm ET, in New York City.
“I am honored to be the Division III Athlete of the Year finalist for women’s track and field,” stated Radigan. “I could not have achieved my goals this year without the support of my coaches and my teammates. It’s been a thrill to compete in collegiate athletics, and I thank Honda for its support with this award.”
Radigan, a graduate student from Portland, Ore., swept the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III National Track Athlete of the Year honors for both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2026. She was also named the USTFCCCA Most Outstanding Track Performer at both the NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor Championships and earned Great Lakes Region Track Athlete of the Year recognition during both seasons.
At the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, Radigan captured national titles in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and helped Calvin's 4x100-meter relay team earn All-America honors with a seventh-place finish. Earlier, she led Calvin to its second consecutive MIAA outdoor title, winning conference championships in the 100 and 200 meters while setting MIAA records in both events. She also anchored the conference champion 4x100 relay team to a league-record time and was named the MIAA Most Valuable Track Athlete.
During the indoor season, Radigan won the NCAA Division III national championship in the 60-meter dash and finished as the national runner-up in the 200 meters. She set school records in both events and established a new NCAA Division III indoor record in the 200-meter dash during the championship preliminaries. Her performances helped Calvin achieve the highest indoor national finish in program history.
A dominant performer throughout the year, Radigan also won MIAA indoor titles in the 60 and 200 meters while helping Calvin secure its second straight conference indoor championship. She earned All-MIAA First Team honors and received both conference and national athlete-of-the-week recognition during her historic 2025-26 campaign.
"This is a great honor for Sydney to be named the Division III Honda Athlete of the Year finalist for Women’s Track and Field," said head track & field coach Adam Haldorson. “She put together an outstanding season of track and field and is deserving of this honor. Thank you to Honda for its support. We are grateful for their support and promotion of women’s athletics at the collegiate level.”
Now in its 50th year, the CWSA continues to honor the nation’s top female collegiate athletes for excellence in athletics, leadership, academics, and community service. Since partnering with Honda in 1986, the program has provided more than $3.4 million in institutional grants, strengthening and advancing women’s athletics programs nationwide.
