Amely Bochaton, a sophomore at Wingate University, has been named a finalist for the Division II Honda Athlete of the Year award in golf for the second consecutive year, as announced today by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA), presented by Honda.
The announcement comes during a landmark moment for the organization, as the CWSA celebrates its 50th anniversary during the 2025–26 collegiate athletics season. Bochaton is now among 11 elite finalists for this prestigious award, which recognizes the top NCAA Division II athletes across various sports. The DII Honda Athlete of the Year will be selected by senior women administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools and will be honored during a live broadcast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, July 27th, at 7:00 pm ET, in New York City.
“I am so grateful to be a finalist again for the Honda Division ll Athlete of the Year,” said Bochaton. “It’s been an incredible year, and I couldn’t ask for anything more. This team fought so hard, and I’m so grateful to be part of this. I am also really proud of what I accomplished during the season. I really put the work in this year, and thankfully, it paid off. Thank you so much to Coach JD for trusting me these past two years.”
Bochaton, a sophomore from Évian-les-Bains, France, has assembled one of the most dominant seasons in NCAA Division II women’s golf history. Ranked No. 1 nationally throughout the season, she led the top-ranked Wingate Bulldogs with a remarkable 69.1 adjusted scoring average. She finished the season top four in all 13 events, including seven wins, three runner-up finishes, two third-place finishes, one fourth-place finish, along with wins in both SAC Tourney medal match plays and wins in her NCAA quarterfinal and semifinal medal match plays.
She played a pivotal role in guiding Wingate to both the South Atlantic Conference Championship and NCAA South Regional title, while helping the Bulldogs advance to the NCAA Championship semifinals. Her standout season also earned her a place on the 2026 Arnold Palmer Cup Team USA roster, as one of only two non-DI student-athletes representing the United States in the prestigious international collegiate competition. This also marks her second consecutive selection as a finalist for the Division II Honda Athlete of the Year award.
Bochaton capped her historic season by claiming the NCAA Division II individual national championship in commanding fashion, winning by 13 strokes and capturing the first individual national title in program history. Her outstanding accomplishments already include being a two-time Women’s Golf Coaches Association PING Player of the Year, two-time South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, two-time First Team WGCA All-American, and two-time First Team All-SAC selection.
“Having the privilege to coach Amely over the last two years has been one of the highlights of my career,” stated head coach J.D. Lamm. “She is hands down the best golfer that DII women’s golf has ever seen. I’m not sure that our division will see a player like her ever again. She pushed her teammates to be the best version of themselves each and every day. I am extremely proud of Amely and the work ethic that she showed this season.”
Now in its 50th year, the CWSA continues to honor the nation’s top female collegiate athletes for excellence in athletics, leadership, academics, and community service. Since partnering with Honda in 1986, the program has provided more than $3.4 million in institutional grants, strengthening and advancing women’s athletics programs nationwide.
