Kaley McIntyre, a sophomore from New York University (NYU), was named the DIII Honda Athlete of the Year finalist for Swimming & Diving as announced today by Executive Director Chris Voelz of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

McIntyre is designated one of 11 finalists for the prestigious DIII Honda Athlete of the Year. This will be voted on at the end of the academic year by national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of THE CWSA program, now in its 48th year.

“I am very honored to be a finalist for this important award in women's athletics,” said McIntyre. “I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to continue to compete in a sport I love while receiving a high-quality education. DIII athletics and NYU have provided me with an incredible community and memories that will stick with me for life. Thank you to my mom, who pushed me (literally) into the sport, and to my grandfather, who is my biggest champion. To my coaches, friends, and family, thank you for your endless support."

McIntyre, hailing from Novato, Calif., was most recently named the DIII College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Swimmer of the Year.

The sophomore claimed individual titles in the 50, 100 and 200 Freestyle events at the 2024 NCAA DIII Championship, setting NCAA DIII records in both the 50 and 100. She was a repeat champion in the 50 Free and 200 Free after capturing the titles last year and her overall performance led NYU to its best team finish ever at the NCAA DIII Championship helping the Violets take third place.

Overall, she is a 13-time First Team All-American and has earned a Second-Team All-America nod in just two seasons.

McIntyre was also named the 2024 University Athletic Association (UAA) Swimmer of the Year after earning UAA Rookie of the Year last season. During the 2024 UAA Championship she set UAA records in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, was member of the record setting 800 freestyle relay and helped her team to a third-place finish.

All Honda Sport Award finalists from DIII and DII will vie for the prestigious 2024 Honda Athlete of the Year in their respective divisions, presented on a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 7 PM ET, from its new home in New York City.

The Honda Award finalists are recognized in 11 DIII and DII NCAA-sanctioned sports; cross country, basketball, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, volleyball, and track & field.
