Finalists for the Class of 2022 Honda Sport Award for Track & Field Announced
Teammates Anna Hall and Jasmine Moore from the University of Florida, Abby Steiner of the University of Kentucky and Camryn Rogers from the University of California, Berkeley are the four finalists for the Class of 2022 Honda Sport Award for Track & Field as announced by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) today.
Teammates Anna Hall and Jasmine Moore from the University of Florida, Abby Steiner of the University of Kentucky and Camryn Rogers from the University of California, Berkeley are the four finalists for the Class of 2022 Honda Sport Award for Track & Field as announced by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) today.
The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 46 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA- sanctioned sports and signifies “the best of the best in collegiate athletics”. The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2022 Honda Cup which will be presented during the live telecast of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards Presented by Honda on CBS Sports Network on June 27, at 9 ET/6 PT.
The track & field finalists were selected by a panel of coaches and experts from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Honda Sport award winner for track & field will be announced later this week after voting by administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. Each NCAA member institution has a vote.
All four student-athletes are currently on the watch list for The Bowerman, awarded by the USTFCCCA each year to the nation’s best track & field athlete
Hall, a sophomore from Highlands Ranch, Colo., was the 2022 NCAA Outdoor National Champion in the Heptathlon after just having competed in the 400 Hurdles roughly 25 minutes earlier and finishing runner-up. She is a two-time USTFCCCA First Team All-American and is the American and Collegiate record holder in 800 meters in a Heptathlon event.
Moore swept the Triple Jump and Long Jump crowns at both the 2022 NCAA Outdoor & Indoor Championships capturing four titles in a single season. The sophomore from Grand Prairie, Texas, is also a four-time SEC Champion in both events in 2022 and has won seven SEC jump titles overall. She was named the 2022 USTFCCCA Indoor National Women’s Field Athlete of the Year.
Steiner, hailing from Dublin, Ohio, is an 11-time First Team USTFCCCA All-American as a sprinter. She captured the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championship in the 200 Meters setting a collegiate record and now ranking No. 8 in the U.S. and 21 in world history. The senior also led the 4x400 Relay team to the national title after her split took the Wildcats from fourth to first.
Rogers is a three-time NCAA Outdoor Champion in the Hammer after capturing gold for her third straight year in the 2022 championship. A senior from Richmond, B.C., she broke her own collegiate and meet record with her fifth throw. She is a five-time USTFCCCA First Team All-American and holds the top 10 throws in collegiate history, half of which were set at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championship.
The CWSA, entering its 46th year, has honored the nation’s top NCAA women athletes for their superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service.
