Khazan is now designated one of 11 finalists for the prestigious DII Honda Athlete of the Year. This will be voted on at the end of the academic year by national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of THE CWSA program, now in its 46th year.
A native of Netanya, Israel, Khazan is a four-time ITA All-American in both singles and doubles and helped her team to its fifth straight National Championship playing at No. 1 singles. The ITA top-ranked player throughout the season, Khazan finished the season with a perfect 19-0 record at No. 1 singles.
She is a three-time First Team All-Sunshine State Conference performer and ranked nationally in doubles as well.
“Deniz has been outstanding in both singles and doubles for us this year, leading the team from the first flight in both to the championships of the Sunshine State Conference, the ITA Indoors and, of course, the NCAA National Championship, pretty much winning every single match she played,” stated head coach Avi Kigel. “A great leader and hard-worker, she is a pleasure to have around, as she makes everyone better tennis players through her example and commitment.”
