Honda Cup Winner Missy Franklin Honored With Cup at Halftime
Former Cal standout swimmer and Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin was honored at halftime of the Cal basketball game yesterday and presented with the Honda Cup.
Missy Franklin, the 2015 Honda Cup winner, was formally presented with the Cup during a halftime ceremony at the Cal men's basketball game on Saturday in Berkeley.
Eric Van Olst represented Honda during the on-campus ceremony. On-campus presentations give the fans and schools a chance to honor the nominee before a home crowd. The "Gold Out" game was the first sellout of the season and Cal men's basketball went on to upset No. 12 Arizona, 74-73.
The CWSA, celebrating its 40th year, presents the Honda Sports Award annually to top women student-athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports. Honda Sports award winners will be presented with the honor during on-campus presentations throughout the year and all Honda Sports award winners become a finalist for the prestigious 2016 Honda Cup award presented in June.
